Everyone else, vote for your favourite Toxic story here: http://www.toxicmag.co.uk/vote
The strip with the most votes may get a ongoing series out of it.
I read yesterday on the Down The Tubes site that Von Poo won the race (which wasn't a massive surprise. It's hard to compete with a talking turd).
Just wanted to say many thanks to all those folks who voted and made it such a very close thing indeed!
My personal favourite of the strips was Werewilf (by far the best written, and it had great characters and art), so it was nice to hear it did well towards the end (possibly coming in third, though that depends on whether the votes changed drastically towards the end).
Cheers guys, and thanks for your support!
Me and Paul-Harrison Davies are already working on our next kids project to send out to publishers, plus I'm working on various kids strips with Dave Thomson and Ian Alexander (who've provided some truly breathtaking artwork). So, onwards and upwards!
The thing is a talking piece of shit is a comedy basic that'll win every time. Trumped only by the almighty comedy basic of 'falling over' e.g., the number one comedy moment of all time... Del Boy falling over. So you should congratulate yourself that you almost won on your script alone, gimmick free.
Of course next time go with ‘Mr PooOver’ the talking poo who hilariously falls over each week.
I'm afraid that I can't say that I'm too shocked by the result, John has pointed out what I'm sure you suspected, that you can be as original as you like, but draw a face on something a little rude and you've got a winner. Maybe if you'd come up with a farting robot it would have helped.
John, surely it's not just the falling over, doesn't Trigger have to pull a face?
Dave, how's the film making coming on? I can just see a trailer with dramatic music for the 'The Turd That Fell' doing really well.
