I was watching the news via the internet (no tv) and I am still amazed at the extent of these floods. I was thinking about all the people who are effected by it all, especially those who have no insurance against this and the families. I thought about an idea to raise some money for a fund to help (every little helps), using our talents.
The idea is simply this. A comic to be sold to raise money and awareness. But I need your help. Would any of you be able to produce a one page story or illustration in which ever format you like?
The only requirement is to use the theme "Flood".
If you are interested and want to get involved, let me know and we can start getting it off the ground.
Let me know what you think. Once we get it started we can then start promoting it to the various news agencies to gain more awareness!
This sounds a great project to be involved in . Bob Dylan wrote a song called 'Down in the Flood' which I thought could make a great one page comic strip. I contacted Sony today who handle the copyright to this song and asked for permission to use Dylan's lyrics and I told them about this project. They need to know full details of the strip, what it was in aid of, etc. and they will then contact Dylan'n managerial office in the States and then they'll let me know if it's green for go. They also need to see a rough draft of the strip. All this is going to take some time. Any idea as to when the deadline might be?
Looks like this project is really gathering momentum. A lot of interesting feedback over at http://www.downthetubes.ning.com (John Freeman's comic discussion forum. If anyone here isn't a member, it's worth signing up there as well).
Adam - are you limiting creators to just one strip each, or would you like a couple?
I'm now going to be illustrating a page by John Freeman but it if anyone so if anyone else wants to illustrate the Dylan song get in touch with me and I'll send on the details. If I don't hear from anyone then I might illustrate this as well (if that's OK with Adam) but I think it's only fair to let another artist have a chance of illustrating this
